Malaysia’s top female golfer Kelly Tan has been announced as The Els Club Malaysia golf ambassador in January 2020. “It's great to be part of such a spectacular golf club, the golf facilities here at “The Els Club Desaru Coast” are among the best in Malaysia and the world. It was a dream come true and an honour for me . I know this is the beginning of something special with The Els Club Malaysia,” stated Kelly Tan.
Kelly was born and raised in the state of Johor, in a small city called Batu Pahat. She loved to play sports and was naturally able to excel. Her dad was the biggest influence for her to start playing golf and introduced her with golf at her age of 12 years old. Kelly was recruited by the Malaysian Ladies Golf Association (MALGA) when she turned 14, and represented Malaysia to play at Open Championships all over Asia at 15 years old with her team.
Graduated from IMG Golf Academy and later acquired the LPGA Tour card from the LPGA Q-School, Kelly Tan's career rose with her participation in various golf tour, locally and internationally such as the Professional Golf Malaysia Tour and Symetra Tour and also have represented Malaysia at the Rio Olympics in 2016.
"There will always be obstacles thrown at me through the journey and I have to be strong enough to get through them. There's a lot of incredible people around the world that I have met along the way and I'm grateful that my career has allowed me to do that. With these wonderful people supporting me, I continued to work hard on my game."
Kelly is a very active person, outside golf, Kelly enjoys playing volleyball and playing guitar.
